Skincare Essentials

Serums, peels, toners, and treatments — there's a lot more to skin care than just washing your face. While everyone's routine is a little different, there are some essential types of skin care products that everyone can use to have the best skin they can.

We'll look at the types of skin care products you should use every morning and evening, along with a few other products that you should apply occasionally.

1. Cleanser

Cleansing your face should be the first part of any skin care routine. It removes dirt and dead skin and prepares it to take in nutrients. Many people with oily and acne-prone skin or who wear a lot of makeup have started double cleansing, particularly in the evening. This process involves using an oil-based cleanser or micellar water first to disrupt the layers of makeup and pollutants on your face, followed by your regular cleanser to wash it away.

2. Toner

Your toner comes next. Its first job is to remove any leftover residue your cleanser missed. You can choose ones that have nutrients like rose water or salicylic acid to give your skin an extra boost. It also primes your skin to take in your serums and treatments.

3. Serums

Now that your skin is as clean as possible, it's time to treat it. Serums and skin treatments can combat any skin concerns you have, like hyperpigmentation, sun damage, or fine lines and wrinkles. You can use the same one every day or layer them to get more benefits.

4. Moisturizer and Sunscreen

Finish off your regimen by locking in antioxidants with a moisturizer designed for your skin type. Perhaps the most important part of your morning routine is sun protection with an SPF of 30 or more. Sun damage is one of the leading causes of premature aging and can cause more serious issues. Some moisturizers have built-in SPF, but if yours doesn't, make sure to invest in a facial sunscreen.
