Tretinoin

Also known as Retin-A, retinoic acid, prescription retinoid

What is tretinoin?

Tretinoin is the prescription form of vitamin A, also called retinoic acid. Your skin can use it right away, so it works faster than retinol on acne, wrinkles, and sun damage. It also causes more dryness and peeling, and you need a doctor to get it.

Tretinoin FAQs

Tretinoin is about 20 times stronger than retinol. Retinol has to convert twice in your skin before it works.

You need a prescription for tretinoin in the US. Retinol and retinal are the closest options you can buy without one.

Acne improves in about 12 weeks. Lines and sun damage take three to six months.

We don't sell prescription tretinoin. We carry retinol and retinal from professional brands, which work the same way at a gentler pace.
