Also known as alpha hydroxy acids, glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid
What are AHAs?
AHAs are water-soluble acids that loosen the bonds holding dead skin cells to the surface of your skin. With steady use they smooth rough texture, brighten dull skin, and soften fine lines. Glycolic, lactic, and mandelic acid are the three you'll see most often.

AHA FAQs
Start with two or three nights a week. You can move to every other night once your skin stops stinging or flaking.
AHAs work on the surface of your skin, and BHA works inside the pore. AHAs suit dry, dull, or sun-damaged skin, and BHA suits oily skin with clogged pores.
You need SPF 30 or higher every morning. AHAs make your skin burn faster for about a week after each use.
Mandelic acid is the gentlest, followed by lactic acid. Glycolic acid is the strongest because it has the smallest molecule.
